Day 27 Freemantle |
Saturday was again a beautiful, sunny day. The nights are still cold, but the days are finally improving.
Brian wanted to take us to the markets at Freemantle, so all four of us hopped in the car and off we went. The trip took us almost all the way along the river, showing off the views and the beautiful, but very expensive houses. It's probably "where the other half lives"! ;-)
The train lines here are in the middle of the highway. I smart move...
So, we passed Otto Point Reserve, and Point Resolution Reserve, after which we came to Freshwater Bay. We stopped at Freshwaters, a café with views across the Swan River, which is very wide by the way.
After a relaxing cuppa we moved on via Chidley Reserve, and Russell Brown Adventure Park, (just passing...) to Freemantle.
We parked the car and walk to Cicerello's, again near the water, and had fish and chips for lunch. Of course we couldn't leave without taking a few pictures.
The markets were good, but not great. Just the usual market stalls and goods, but always worth to walk through. Next we stopped at Freo Waffles for an ice cream and since the shop opposite had a rack outside with a sighn: 50% off, I couldn't help but buy a pink hoodie for myself. ;-)
Brian reckoned we should go the the maritime museum and see the Australia II which won the America's Cup, so we did. Annoyingly all the pictures seem to come out in reverse order. Can't do anything about it...
And finally a few pictures of the big ships in Freemantle harbour:
