Scotland - Sunday and Monday (Home & Exploring Edinburgh)

Sunday October 8, 2017

The usual quiet day at home.  As the washing machine had broken down before we arrived we would have to walk a fair bit to the nearest laundromat, which I have no intention of doing if it isn't strictly necessary.  Carrying the groceries is the limit at the moment.  So, we do what we do when we go camping: we do a little hand wash every day.

As my back was pretty sore from the day before (and I also feel the springs in the mattress, which keeps waking me up) I go back to bed for a while and have a bit of a rest.

After that I spend the best part of the day sorting photographs and catching up with my blog.  I'm getting there.  When I finish this I am up to date! ;-)

This morning we got up at the usual time and prepared lunch after we had had our shower and breakfast.  The plan was to take a bus trip on a day ticket and travel all the way to Ocean Terminal, the last stop on the Skylink 300.

It was a nice enough trip, but nothing to write home about at the other end, so we didn't get off, but travelled back to the city on it.  There we got off at the bottom of the Royal Mile and walked up to the Starbucks that we had had coffee at before.

and a few more of the Royal Mile...

Here we sat down for a good rest and a nice cuppa, after which we popped into the indoor market place next door.  Not too much to see, so we walked the best part of Clerk Street for Patricia to get some quilting material at a fabric shop. By no means a boring walk, as there were plenty of shops for window shopping.

Then we made our way back to find a bus that would take us to Princes Street from where we could hop on a bus to the shops near home, as we needed more groceries.  Luckily we had our backpacks and Patricia's spare folding bag, so we could take a fair bit home, and..... we didn't have to walk, because we could use our day ticket to catch a bus back.
