Perenjori to Geraldton

 Saturday 27 August 2022

Day 13
Perenjori to Geraldton

I take a few pictures of our campsite in the morning while Kevin tops up with water.  Then we're on the road again, hoping to see some more wildflowers. That's what we are here for.

And, what a surprise.  Kevin notices a sign: Bowdega nature Reserve.  We drive further in and discover a whole area with all kinds of flowers.  No surprise that my camera did overtime!

We stop at Morawa for fuel and a cuppa.  Kevin sees the everlasting daisies that he likes so much, so we take some pictures.  Then we are on our way to Mullewa (we thought!)

Later, on the road again, we keep seeing all these patches and even fields full of white flowers.  Sometimes the road is lined with yellow, at other times purple and silver-colour bushes...

And 40 km out of Morawa we discover that we have taken a wrong turn and are on the longer road to Yalgoo.  Since we're a bit pressed for time we decide to turn back to Morawa.  At least I managed to get a few more photos in...

Here and there we stop to take a picture of a particularly beautiful or unusual flowering bush.  Most of the time I don't have a clue what the names are of the flowers or bushes.

When we see another sign we turn into a side road again and stop at a place where we could have actually camped for the night, were it not that we are a bit pressed for time because of the upcoming rally at Leeman. Here are literally carpets of flowers spread in the sandy area.

Further down the road we pass again a dry, shallow lake.

In the meantime we have found the right way to Mullewa and are lucky that we haven't needed to do the extra 180 km if we had gone all the way to Yalgoo.

At Mullewa we stop and have coffee at the local Art Gallery which doubles as a coffee shop,  We have coffee and muffins and are ready for the last leg of our trip to Geraldton.

Unfortunately this seems to be the end of our beautiful weather of the last two days.  A rainbow is quickly followed by rain, most of the way to Geraldton.

At Geraldton we find an RV parking area near the port, which proves to be a great place for an overnight stay.  We walk along the port to the end of the esplanade and take some pictures.

The front of the motorhome is facing the port, so during and after dinner we see the sun set and get a different picture of the port at night.
