BSW - Lowood (Somerset interim) Solos - Woodford

Friday 2 Agust 2019

Another weekend with the BSWs and this time Kevin joins me.  We have left Alexandra Hills early and we have taken my bus for the weekend and the ensuing days as we take our vehicles in turn.

Kevin gets gradually introduced and plays disc bowls with the group.  He already knows Graham and Ron, which makes it easier to socialise.

We keep ourselves occupied with a walk through town and morning and afternoon tea.  In between I play cards with the women.  Kevin also joins in for a while as he likes playing Bush Rummy too.

This weekend we have a dinner catered for, because it's Formerly's 50/30th birthday.  Fifty years ago it was built as a fire engine and 30 years ago it became a motorhome for Robert and Helen.

We were all asked to wear RED for the occasion, of course. ;-)

I am finally playing disc bowls again.  I haven't played for a while because of my shoulder injury.  I don't want that to happen again, so I am learning to play right-handed and I am doing not too badly.

 Sunday 4 August 2019

We normally leave on Sunday morning, but the Rainbow Lorikeets gathering doesn't start until Monday, so we visit John and Robyn who live near the Somerset Dam

We stay there until Monday morning, but before we leave John drives us to, what usually is an island, but with the low water level we can walk/ride across.  I wanted to go there, because I have discovered that there is a geocache hidden on the island.  We do indeed find it, as well as a little snake which was hidden under a rock.

No lack of photos for this visit:

Monday 5 August 2019

Our last gathering with the Rainbow Lorikeets for a while, at least for me, is in Woodford.   We drive there on the Monday morning after we've looked for that geocache.

There are ont as many present as usual, but this is probably because half the group is still taking part in the tagalong.  We do our usual things, like playing cards, disc bowls, having a sausage sizzle, etc.

I don't have photographs. Again.  Just the one of the lonely fireplace.  Well so be it...  Perhaps more next time.
